EGGIES

Product review...Eggies

Have you seen these? Seen the infomercial? Why fuss over removing the shells from boiled eggs when you can boil them without the shell?  Hummmm, thought I.

So I picked up my computer and I found them. I ordered them. I love new stuff that saves me work or makes a time-consuming chore less so.

How do they work? (I heard you ask.)

You simply

1) break an egg in the plastic egg-shaped 4 piece container, which you have sprayed lightly with cooking spray

2) assemble the container...set the top on the bottom, (which is holding the egg)
attach the middle ring, which holds everything together
Screw the little top holder in place (the top has a little handle)

3) drop into nearly boiling water of at least 2.5 inches in depth

4) when water begins to boil, set your timer according to egg size from the enclosed chart.

Maybe the best part is that when they are done, they really do just pop out of the holder!

Wow, I thought, how cool to have boiled eggs with no shell to remove and cooked perfectly every time.  I ordered some for me and some extra ones for gifts.

I used them as soon as they arrived.  Very easy to understand instructions, very easy to clean parts~and the eggs?  They are odd looking, flat bottoms, but perfect.

I believe I am a pretty average buyer, though I admit I am a sucker for kitchen gadgets!  If it's fun to use and makes my cooking easier, I want to try it.  The EGGIES, satisfied both of these requirements.  Lots of boiled eggs with no mess to clean up except washing out the cups, which cleaned up easily.

You can also scramble the eggs before cooking and season to your taste or you can add omelet ingredients in a bowl and pour them into the Eggies.  I would assemble first including the middle ring before doing this one, then you can make them a little bigger!  The texture of the scrambled egg is a little airy when cooked, but the taste is good.  I am more a of fan of the basic boiled egg.

The cost was very reasonable, I ordered from two different online catalog stores and the price was  the same from each.  Harriet Carter got them here more quickly than the other source, but both came within 10 days of ordering.  Both cost less than $12 including shipping.

If you use a lot of boiled eggs, I do in the summer on a lot of salads and deviled eggs for potlucks or picnics, you will absolutely love these little guys.  I am probably never going to boil another egg in it's shell!

Go ahead...pick up that computer and search EGGIES...I'm betting you're gonna love 'em!

    1. I love egg salad, too. I make it often and this is so easy! They are just great. You get a dozen in the box and I got 2 for myself because sometimes I need more just the dozen. Deviled eggs plus a potato salad for example. :)

  3. You know--this is something I haven't heard of--but I'm constantly making them for my kids and they aren't so neat about taking off their own shells--maybe I should look into getting me some!! Great review Jo!! Cheers!

    1. Thanks Jenn...they really do rock! I have used them twice already and only had them a week. Roomy made fun of me for buying 3 dozen eggs, that is until he started eating the end result! lol

  6. Been taking alot of hard boiled eggs to work for breakfasts/snacks and have been cussing and such because they are so hard to peel. I have heard put salt in the water and they'll peel easier, do this - do that.... and still I get frustrated. You have convinced me to get them now that you have had success. Now, if you would just buy the Express - Ready, Set, Go Machine (saw that infomercial today for the umpteenth time) and let me know how you like that...I may get that too. lol

    Love ya ~ Chele

  9. I'm not bothered by peeling boiled eggs. If you run cold water over the shell, it usually peels easily.

    1. Not really a matter of being difficult, just time consuming and this way, there just is NO peeling. To each his own, I say! ♥

  10. Chele...Let me suggest you stay away from the xpress~ready, set, go offer. I just did a relatively quick check on the reviews and this $40. machine will cost you about $350. by the time you add all the inserts needed for the results you see in that infomercial. The recipes are additional! Not good reviews although a lot of people wanted the machine, didn't keep it or didn't even complete the sale once they saw the total adding up! NOT a good buy.

  11. I saw the eggies at Wal-sucks. Fortunately, I went home and looked in my cabinets. I pulled out my poached egg pot and the one I have for the microwave. I don't want any more single use utensils in the kitchen. I did like the review.

    1. I know what you're sayin there, but I do a ton of boiled eggs and very few of any other kind. We have eggs IN things a lot, but as far as just eating eggs, boiled is it for us most of the time. So for us, great investment and they store in a baggie, gallon size. Not too much room needed. The poacher, I tossed years ago, can do them in the micro wave very easily, on the very rare occasion that I want one. Anyway...to each his own, right? ♥

  13. Nice review, well written and says all it needs to :o) Must admit though, I am every ad man's nightmare. I actually am less likely to buy something if I see an advert for it and rarely know what the 'in thing' is... and wouldn't buy it anyway! *grin*

  15. I've never seen eggies but if they are like my passion for collection unnecessary plastic objects with mismatched lids then I must have them. Thanks for the recommend.

    1. I have no complaints about them, except a couple of the caps don't line up real well and are hard to put on, but it's such a minor thing. The eggs are great.♥

    1. For me, they are well worth the $10 for others, maybe not. I don't mind peeling eggs, I just find it an awesome time saver NOT to. Since I usually do about 2 dozen at a time, I find this the right thing.

  20. Jo you're killing me. I'm a horrible 'As Seen On T.V." addict and I had never seen/heard of Eggies until your review and now if you'll excuse me, I have to go order an Eggie online.

    1. LOL I'm so sorry I just cost you $10, but I believe you will LOVE them if you love boiled eggs. My newest thing is separating the eggs and boiling some of them whites only and some of them yolks only. I love the yolks and my husband loves the whites so that way I reasoned we wouldn't have to both want an egg at the same time! Oh, the miracles of the Eggies! LOL
