UNEXPECTED

Some of the best things that have ever happened to me have been unexpected.

My son was born about 8 months after I had the most severe case of the flu that I had ever lived through. When I finally gave in and went to the doctor, I learned I was not suffering from the flu at all, I had morning, afternoon and evening sickness most commonly associated with pregnancy. Really? Well, then, okay. Onward with this new information. It was all good and completely unexpected. That form of birth control was not effective for me, apparently.

There have been other happy unexpected things in my years, but none so life changing.

I was fired, unexpectedly TWICE. That’s not good, ever.  Although, in the long run, each became a blessing in disguise. As we all know, God sometimes sends blessings through unconventional means.

I met my husband unexpectedly. Tried to run him over, but he lived. Whew!

I became a grandmother unexpectedly. Thank you God for that one!

We found this house, unexpectedly.  We had already found THE one and were making plans to improve it and the beauty salon already on the property. The seller backed out and we were then rushed to find a place since our house was sold. This one came up and it felt like home the moment we walked in the front door. Though we lived 2 miles from here, I had never noticed this house before. I liked that. Others wouldn’t be noticing it, either. Country living was something I hadn’t done in many years and I wasn’t sure I’d like it. But unexpectedly, I loved it almost immediately.  Still do.

So the point here is that very often the things that happen unexpectedly are the things we cherish most.

God really does know our needs better than we do and He always offers them up so we can choose our own happiness or pass it up. I am happy to say I have often been blessed by the unexpected that I was wise enough to choose.

A lot of friends fall into that category, too.  People I met unexpectedly and have kept close to my heart ever since.

I’d love to hear all of your unexpected blessings….and look!! The comment boxes are empty!  Fill ‘em in.

Jo
