HAMBURG STOOP
Jo Heroux
2# ground sirloin
½ cubed acorn squash
½ C frozen corn
2 potatoes cubed
1 med onion chopped
1/2 to 1 C sliced asparagus
1 can cream of celery soup
1 C cream
1 C chicken broth or ½ C chicken broth + ½ C white wine
Brown meat and season with
Garlic powder 2Tbsp or so.
Cumin to taste (I use
a good Tbsp).
A Tbsp. Oregano
Add vegies and broth or broth + wine combo. Let it simmer until the vegies are
tender. Add the celery soup and cream
and if you like, 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, stir and continue to simmer
until warmed through.
This stoop is sooo thick, rich and delish…it is also a great
crock pot meal, but brown the burger before you dump it in the pot! I have done both ways and prefer the stove
top if I’m going to be around to stir!
Sometimes you may need to add water BEFORE you add the soup and
cream. Not so in the crock pot.
Sounds so heartwarming! What a great Fall meal!
ReplyDeleteIt really is yummy! I usually serve it with biscuits. It's one of our family favs.
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you try it, what you think.
This sounds really good. Like something to curl up with on a cold day and warm the old bones from the inside out. :D

Hi Jo. Sounds like comfort food. Yum! Thanks for reading my post, and for following....
ReplyDeleteKathy...For those of us in the north, is there anything yummier on a cold windy day than a big ole bowl of hearty, thick and creamy soup? Love it.
ReplyDeleteDanneromero...Thanks for reading and sharing! It is good stuff. Hope ya get a chance to try it.
I can attest to the deliciousness of this "stoop" as Ms. Jo made it especially for me during a gabfest one evening. It is absolutely delish comfort food and most certainly needs a biscuit.....YUMMO!
